Other places: Little trip to Melbourne

A budget airline, Tiger, has recently returned to Alice Springs, offering routes to Sydney and Melbourne at reasonably (and sometimes stupendously) discounted prices. The timing is great for me, following the birth of my niece in Melbourne in March. Plus the Sydney route will mean more (affordable) trips back home to visit family and friends (and friends' babies!) in Wollongong.

I took advantage of a long weekend and extended it by a couple of days to get a good dose of Aunty-hood with my seven-week-old niece, Hazel (and, of course, my sister!). Hazel is smiling and making all sorts of little noises and it looks like she's trying really hard to tell little stories. She is such a delight!

Melbourne also meant a sneak preview of winter. I left behind daytime temperatures of 30 degrees and copious amounts of sunshine for the famously changeable Melbourne climes. It's nice to get rugged up but I underpacked in the sock department!

Now it's back to life and work in the desert.

Bicycle spotted in Northcote

Had a lovely wander along High Street, Northcote. And a spot of op-shopping.

Flowery bicycle on High St.

Kate and Hazel.

Little cheeky grin.

Lush green grass feels like a luxury now.

Me!

  1. Hmmm seeing those cute bikes, I need to repair my punctured bike tyre and get out for a ride I think. I don't find Perth a particularly bike-friendly city (too hilly) but it's still nice to go for a ride for the enjoyment rather than the transport.
That stripey scarf in the last photo is gorgeous x
