Two dollar frills.

See this dress? Two bucks at the local Red Cross on Saturday morning. Teamed with my cowgirl boots, beads and a floppy hat, I think I may have found my summer staple. (But actually, probably not the boots. Forty-five degrees for much of summer is just too hot for shoes.)

The weekend was a mix of lazing, feasting with friends, swimming....not much in the garden. A bit too hot for that. The Darwin Symphony Orchestra gave us a treat under the stars with a free concert tacked on the back of their Uluru gigs. James Morrison joined in took over the show but, hey! Music is music and music is better outdoors under the stars. My favourite piece was one that William Barton wrote, starting off with him singing in language (he is a Kalkadoon man from around Mount Isa) before the didgeridoo weaves into the orchestral strings. It was also good to tap the feet to some classic trad jazz standards, like the A-Train.

And, oh! I got stung by a bee. Not at the concert. In the pool.

And I think I have a new project starting to form. It's going to take me a little out of my comfort zone, but also quite comfortably within. Hmmmmm.
