Outback beach.
We've been lucky enough to have some mid-summer rain to break the relentless heat that is the norm here in Central Australia. Not enough of a downpour to flood the usually-dry Todd River, but the right amount to create a 'beach' of sorts. The claypans are a great local spot to take the dogs for a decent run off-the-leash, and they are just that - a series of expansive, circular pans of clay. After rain the pans collect enough water for the dogs to get gloriously muddy and soaked. Which they adore!

I REALLY want a dog, and all your shots of your beautiful dogs do not help! How fantastic to get some summer rain - is that unusual or does Alice have a wet summer/dry winter scenario?
ReplyDeleteYou REALLY should get a dog! Do it! So much fun. Biggie Smalls would LOVE to be a dog boss, I am certain! Rain at any time is quite a treat, given our average rainfall is 286mm - compared with Darwin, which has an average of 1,700+mm/year. It's mostly usually blue skies and dry.
DeleteWow, what a wonderful yet strange thing to see in the outback (forgive me if it is remotely normal, I have never travelled into central Australia haha!).
ReplyDeleteYes, it is a strange and wonderful thing! It's something that happens occasionally, definitely not regularly!
